In bed, struggling to move without discomfort, I am reminded of the mission of CareFree Smart Homes. When unwell, even the most mundane tasks become arduous. Walking around the house to turn off all the lights that someone else left on, adjusting the heating, or answering the door can be exhausting if not impossible. This is where smart technology truly transforms my independence.
With a voice command, a touch on my phone, or a simple press of a smart remote, I can effortlessly do this and more:
- Control ALL the lights without leaving bed.
- See if a window or door was left open
- Adjust the heating to maintain optimal comfort, controlling the temperature in each room to minimise energy consumption.
- Monitor who is at the door and engage in conversations and/or grant access, locking people back out as they leave.
- Fully control my alarm system
- Look out the front and rear of my house any time that I hear a suspicious noise.
- Control the television, music, or blinds from the comfort of my bed.
I also have all my lighting setup to optimise my circadian rhythm, which it’s suggested can help my overall wellbeing.
While my phone enables me to seek assistance when necessary, I am appreciative of the independence and privacy my smart tech affords me.
When I embarked on this journey, my vision extended beyond mere technological advancements for the general population. My goal was to enhance the lives of individuals facing challenges, particularly those who are currently unwell, have mobility limitations, or simply seek convenience. Smart technology is not just a luxury; it becomes an invaluable lifeline when needed most.
This week, confined to my bed, I am once again filled with gratitude.
